Inspiration was so named because he is a refreshing change for the breed – he offers the qualities of calving ease, adequate growth genetics with carcass merit in a package that visually and structurally rises to the top. As his dam and full sisters have made phenomenal cows, we expect this to be Inspiration's greatest asset yet. We calved his first daughters in the spring of 2016, and were not surprised by their excellent udder structure and moderate size. An Inspiration daughter raised the 11th top weaning weight heifer of the spring 2016 Hoover crop.
Inspiration is moderate, extremely thick, big topped, wide based, deep ribbed, correct made, and easy going. Inspiration was the $56,000 top-selling bull of our 2013 auction to Alta Genetics. Inspiration is a gentle, laid back fellow that never gets in a hurry. This comes as no surprise, with a Docility EPD at the top of the breed.
Pathfinder donor dam C164 will be a cow that goes down in the Hoover history books! Her most noted daughter to date is her $33,500 sale-topping daughter, H6, that sold to KDS Angus in 2011. She is a full sister to Inspiration. Kevin Sweeney of KDS Angus reports, "I cannot sing my praises of this cow enough. I consider February 1, 2011 – the day I crossed paths with this cow – to be a very historic day in my life." In 2012, H6 flushed 12 grade 1 embryos, and all 12 of these embryos resulted in pregnant recipients. 6 days after H6 was flushed, she settled AI. H6 is a working donor, and has 23 registered progeny.
C164 records 10-107 WR on her natural progeny and a 362 day calving interval, that includes stealing flushes five different times! Her fertility is phenomenal to say the least. Her picture below was taken when she was a wet 8 year-old. Fourteen sons scanned at Hoover Angus have averaged over a 15.5" ribeye! C164 has grossed over $175,000 in progeny and embryo sales. Twelve sons have averaged $10,900; three daughters $14,150.
At 11 years of age, C164's natural calf weaned at 854 pounds to tie as the 12th top adjusted weaning weight bull calf of the 2015 Hoover crop! An ET daughter of C164 topped the ET heifer weaning weight division at 742 pounds!
A Pathfinder full sister to Inspiration works in the Hoover herd. Her first son weaned at 821 pounds and sold for $7000 to long-time repeat customers Ron & LuAnne Brown. Her next son works for Nellie Beth Sandefur and sold for $8500. Her third calf, a heifer, weaned at 751 pounds to be the 2nd top adjusted weaning weight heifer of the spring 2015 Hoover crop!
Pathfinder grandam 9183 ended her career with 10-96 BWR, 10-108 WR, 10-105 YR and 3 Pathfinder daughters to her honor! As an 11 year-old cow, she raised a 769 pound bull calf to ratio 113.
