EPDs current as of 8/16/19

S454 was the 4th top weaning weight bull of his crop!  He is a smooth, good looking bull with a tight sheath and excellent feet.  He has an amazing amount of style and eye appeal for a bull that displays optimal calving ease and pushes the upper limits for growth.  He is a rare find!  He also has an outcross pedigree for the vast majority of today’s Angus genetics.

High growth, docility, calving ease, and phenotype are the main traits our commercial customers look for, and this bull puts it all together. His WW EPD, YW EPD, and $W are all above the best 1% of the breed!

Dam N473 is an up-and-coming young cow who ties as the 8th top indexing cow of the entire herd!  She has a 361 day calving interval and 3-111 WR.

N473 was a high performing female herself – she had a BW 67 lbs., WW 733 lbs., WR 106, YW 1010 lbs., YR 103, IMF 4.58, ratio 112, ribeye 11.7”, ratio 98.  She was the 8th top weaning weight heifer of her crop!

Grandam K264 is a nice uddered cow that has raised several top weaning weight calves.  K264 had solid individual performance as her dam’s first calf – WW 699 lbs., WR 113, YW 1096 lbs., YR 109.  She was the 12th top weaning weight heifer of her crop.

Pathfinder great grandam H232 has raised several other top weaning weight calves in addition to K264.  One daughter was the 6th top weaning weight, #1 IMF heifer of her crop.

S454 is backed by six consecutive generations of high ratioing, highly productive females with superior udder quality.  Sixth generation dam 458 was one of the last cows purchased by Hoover Angus – since her purchase, we have been a closed cow herd.  458 ended her career with 14-97 BWR, 14-108 WR, and she served as a donor for us. She weaned four sons or daughters that were the 2nd, 4th, 5th, and 6th top adjusted weaning weight bull or heifer calves of their respective crops! One daughter earned Pathfinder status. 458 had a beautiful udder the day she went to town.

High quality semen is available for $25/straw.  S454 was used heavily both AI and natural service in the spring 2019 Hoover breeding program.  His first calves will arrive in January, 2020.  S454 was to be the lead-off bull in our 2019 sale, but one month prior to our sale, he got injured and had not fully recovered by sale time.
