EPDs current as of spring 2014 NCE update

The biggest spread bull in the Hoover herd bull line-up, and the only well proven in the sire in the breed with a negative BW EPD than can top the +130 YW EPD mark! He is truly the epitome of curve-bending genetics! Excitement is a true calving ease bull without sacrificing the traits often lost in typical calving ease cattle.

Our oldest Excitement daughters are now approaching four years old, and these daughters' calves appear to have excellent growth. Excitement daughters have very uniform, nice udders with small teat size and good udder attachment. They are moderate sized, efficient females that will be easy fleshing cattle that can stand tougher environments. Their mothering skills are good also.

Excitement is sound made, clean-fronted, and offers an outcross pedigree to the Hoover program. Progeny have excellent muscle, rib, and thickness. Viewing Excitement’s dam before we purchased the bull, we noted that she was a moderate framed cow with a square udder and nice disposition. Excitement’s sire has exceptional rib and fleshing ability.

Excitement is our most trusted sure-fire calving ease sire. His EPDs continue to improve as he sees higher usage throughout the country. Many heifers have been bred to this bull the past five years. Excitement calves out of heifers can come 10-12 days early, with consistently low birth weights. This short gestation will help keep his BW EPD low and CED high. Many progeny will be showcased our February 2014 production sale, as well as many females carrying his service. Excitement cattle are easy to market with their "big spread" EPD traits and sound structure.

In the 2013 Hoover calf crop, Excitement produced four of the top weaning weight bull and heifer calves of the crop.

An Excitement son, Hoover Electrify, produced the 2nd top weaning weight bull of our 2013 crop.  Purchasers of Excitement sons in several states have been well satisfied with how their Excitement sons held up in their first year of service and how their progeny have performed.  Bill McLean of McLean Ranches in Coulee City, Washington reports that his Excitement son rose to a +75 WW EPD after his first calf crop, and he is very impressed with the bull’s progeny.

Owned with Basin Angus Ranch, Joliet, MT; Kuck Ranch, Bertrand, NE; and Ray-Mar Ranches, Oakdale, CA.
